Ingredients
1 3/4 cup Half and Half
1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tbsp malted milk powder
1 tbsp light corn syrup
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
4 oz (1/2 cup semisweet chocolate, finely chopped)
Make sure to freeze your ice pop maker for approximately 24 hours before making ice pops, unless you are planning to use other containers (other options listed below.)
If you don’t have a Zoku Quick Pop Maker don’t worry! You’ll be surprised at what you can find around your house as a replacement. Here are some examples: ice cube tray, nonstick muffin pan, drinking glasses, paper cups, and silicone cake cups.
The type of stick you use depends on the container you choose. For example, if you use an ice tray, toothpicks would be a better choice then a big old popsicle stick, and vice versa for drinking glasses. Once you have chosen the stick place it in the mold, when the mold is half frozen. If the mold is not half frozen then the popsicle stick will fall over, if it is too frozen the stick will break… What a bummer!
In a sauce pan, combine the half and half, cocoa powder, malted milk powder, corn syrup, vanilla extract and salt. (In shorter terms everything but the shredded chocolate)
Bring to a simmer over medium-high heat! Stir occasionally and cook until the cocoa and milk powder have completely dissolved. (Basically until it looks like chocolate milk.)
Remove the mixture from the heat and add the chopped chocolate. Stir until the chocolate has completely melted. (This could take a while, trust us. :D)
Let cool until room temperature, or it’ll take a year to freeze.
When cool, poor mixture into your frozen Zoku Quick Pop Maker or other chosen container. To avoid making a mess and irritating your mother, pore the mixture from the mixing bowl into a measuring cup. (Unless you want half your mixture spilling on your counter.)
Watch your mixture freeze 😀 There is no need to stick it in your freezer, why else would you have had to freeze the container for 24 hours?
Pull them out and enjoy 😀
